I’ve Got the Cabin Fever

We’re in a deep freeze. It’s the fourth day of cold, snow and bitter wind chills. The wind is so biting that my son, who loves to play in the snow, asked to come in after just a few minutes, much to my relief. Even bundled up from head to toe the wind was cutting through our layers. The roads are slick and snow covered, and it takes forever for the car to warm up. So we’re stuck inside. Oh, and did I mention it’s been so long since we’ve seen the sun that we’ve forgotten what it looks like?

I can feel the cabin fever setting in; restlessness, bordem, malaise. That’s just me. My three year-old son is going nuts being penned up. Well, this means coming up with creative ways to keep him entertained. For lunch today we made a tent out of chairs and an old blanket in the living room, then ate underneath it. We pretended that our dogs were bears, and if we didn’t stay inside the tent with our food they’d eat our lunch and us too. He got a kick out of it. He played in the tent for a couple more hours until he fell asleep under it on the floor.

What do you do to beat Cabin Fever? Leave a comment. We’ve got a few more days of this. I’m gonna need something new for tomorrow.
